71° Rallye Sanremo kicks off
After revving up the engines in the morning with the Qualifying Stage and the Shake Down at 15.00, the 110 crews of the Italian race set off from the Corso Imperatrice platform.
SANREMO (IM), 18 October – Leaden skies and heavy rain showers. These were the weather conditions this morning in Sanremo, which saw the first start of the engines of the 71st Rallye Sanremo with the Qualifying Stage and the Shake Down on the 2.60 km of Montalto that will host the first special stage in the afternoon. Meanwhile, yesterday, Thursday 17 October, the sporting and technical scrutineering took place, passed by 110 crews with only two missing, Andrea Beghé-Luca Ambrosi, Peugeot 208 VTi #73 and Gianni Bormida-Anna Maria La Mattina, Renault Twingo #109.
The race will start today at 3.00 p.m. from the platform of Corso Imperatrice in Sanremo, heading to the stage of Montalto (3.43 p.m.), which will be filmed by cameras and broadcast on Sky channel 228, TivùSat channel 52, RAI Sport, in streaming on acisport.it and on the Facebook page of the Italian Overall Rally Championship. The first to start in the special will be Bertini-Vignolo in their Suzuki Swift. After six cars taking part in the various trophies, at 15.12 it will be the turn of the first crew entered in the Italian championship Sara Carra-Federica Mauri, Škoda Fabia evo #18 followed in reverse order by the CIRAS protagonists up to the Italian champion Andrea Crugnola with Pietro Ometto on the Citroën C3 #1 who will enter the special at 15.42.
After the Montalto trial, the Ghimbegna-San Romolo (10.51 km, 5.46 pm) and San Romolo-Perinaldo (7.13 km, 6.05 pm) stages are scheduled before the competitors return to Sanremo in Piazza Colombo at 7 pm with the first outline of the classification drawn up.
